Fun read! I have ordered the book. It's about $25 for an ebook, PDF, or paperback.

Great interview Sam. I find chimpanzees very daunting- depressing actually...they are so very like us, it seems, in violence, but lack some of the communal altruism we have.

Sam, I'm reminded now of an author whose ideas I admired greatly. Frans de Waal-who died recently. I recall one of his early books that I read avidly at the time, Chimpanzee Politics. A passage in it related how staring at an alpha male through the bars of some zoo in the Netherlands, he imagined a dialogue where the chimpanzee said something like, "You would not enjoy life as one of us. We are much too harsh for you.". That says it all. I highly recommend his writings.

I absolutely love this interview, perhaps because I was an anthro major. Your questions were perfect. I'll be buying the book.
