Some great graphics Sam. I wonder if this is at the cell or pack level? Three main battery chemistries appear to be emerging.

1) High Nickel NCM (low Cobalt) for high-power applications (pickups, semis..etc).

2) My personal favorite: LFP for stationary storage and standard-range vehicles: https://www.lianeon.org/p/here-come-the-iron-batteries

3) And possible Sodium Ion batteries for ultra-cheap stationary storage.

Much how our fuels are differentiated by use type (gasoline, diesel, natural gas…etc) our battery chemistries are branching out and specializing.

Very exciting times ahead.

And that's all on top of the old standby: lithium-ion! We are well and truly entering the Battery Age.

Hi Sam, thank you. The story of the platypus’ inspired a poem. Would you be okay with me using this same image just as I particularly like

it ? I’m ok not to if you prefer I don’t. Thanks again for your work.

Another great installment if your journal of humanity's progress. Here are some highlights for me:

1. Batteries! As you know, I ❤️Batteries! Have written about them in the past. Stretching our imagination, we can see the day coming when a whole city can be powered indefinitely by a single battery the size of a Bic lighter! Of course that battery will weigh the hundreds of tons necessary to contain the spring of twisted space/time within! Just simple engineering!

2. Obelisks. Wow. Just when we thought we had nailed down the tree of life, adding the archaea, here are these! "More things in heaven and Earth..Horatio"

3. Kyrgyzstan..(not sure even if I spelled that right!) Solar put to the use of remote off the grid villages. Until hyper batteries are rolled out, what a neat solution.

China's progress in solar is astounding and laudable, now imagine the same effort focused on the black market in ivory and shark fins.
