The world can only support about 3 billion people. Shrinking resources, pollution, desire of people in Africa, South and Central America, Asia to live like those in North America and Europe, etc.
I mean, that's why I think it's good news that the human population is set to peak and then start declining this century: less strain on the planet's resources, a better chance of a better life for all. And I'm hopeful that the developing world can "leapfrog" a lot of America and Europe's environmental impacts and get their people a good life without gigantic emissions: over 90% of new electricity generating capacity installed in 2022 in India was wind and solar! Plus, new agricultural technology from Beyond Burgers to Solein can produce quality food with orders of magnitude lower land and water use, although that's not nearly as far along as renewables yet. I remain optimistic that our civilization can achieve a better future for both humanity and our biosphere-though it won't be easy!
