I very much enjoyed the recent Dune movies directed by Denis Villeneuve; they probably did as well as any cinematic effort could do at adapting the complex religio-socio-ecological tapestry of the original novel’s1 world-building. Here’s a semi-random list of some of the real-world analogues that the Dune movies and books inspired me to think more about.
