Outstanding Sam. Thanks for sharing it. Most treatments of the Prometheus story treat it as though fire was instantly appreciated as the boon it could become but the hesitancy of both the main character and her mother better reflect what we know now of the dual aspects of all new technology.
This was great! I really like the voicey main character, and her courage to not only grab the fire but spread the "technology." Is it wrong that I don't feel bad for the Big Guy? Hopefully you post more fiction in the future!
I'm also a story writer / climate advocate, and I think more people in the climate movement should play around with creative writing to reach others emotionally instead of just logically.
